More and more businesses are finding ways to get more for less, more bang for their buck, so to speak. Cost-cutting measures are not just a helpful strategy, but for some businesses, a lifeline for survival. High beam fluorescent lighting is fast becoming the fixture of choice because there is more energy output with less energy usage. T-5 fluorescents are cost-effective, durable efficiencies that a sound investment for smart energy consumption and conservation.
Commercial customers know all too well how costly equipment is to buy as well as maintain for the long haul. Ameren Illinois Utilities offers innovative energy efficiency rebate programs to help its commercial customers to invest in technology that will give them a long-lasting return on their investment. Ameren Illinois Utility Rebate Program is for non-residential customers that receive wire service from Ameren affiliates under an eligible rate schedule. Ameren’s website http://www.actonenergy.net goes into the specifics in detail about eligibility requirements so businesses can make sure they meet the proper requirements.
Ameren’s Utility Rebate Incentive Program has two key incentive programs: the prescriptive and custom incentive programs that are both contingent upon pre-approval and possible post-installation inspection. The prescriptive incentive has a varying degree of payout, depending on the type of equipment, size and how energy efficient the equipment is. The custom incentive program on the other hand, is based on the amount of energy a certain technology saves over time. All custom efficiency measures must have a payout of 1.5 to 7 years and the rebate can’t be more than 50% of the incremental project costs. Commercial customers who are eligible for the prescriptive program aren’t usually eligible for the custom program, but there are some current changes in the works, so interested parties should get more detailed information from the website.
Ameren Illinois Utilities and other utility companies are always working hard to provide energy efficient programs for their customers. In addition to the custom and prescriptive programs, Ameren’s Act On Energy initiative also offers incentives for energy-efficient lighting equipment, including T-5 fluorescent lighting. The key criteria are that commercial consumers must have the project pre-approved before the lighting equipment is purchased or installed. Upon approval, customers must buy efficiencies and finish the project within a 90-day period in order to receive the rebate incentive.
There is an added bonus, however, to encourage customers to replace T-12 lighting fixtures with T-8 or T-5 fluorescent lighting. For a limited time, from February 2-April 16, 2010, customers can submit applications to get an added 15% incentive for new projects which must be finished by May 31, 2010. Programs like these and other programs are great bonuses to give customers a special “thank you” for supporting green energy initiatives.
