Energy Efficient T5 Fluorescents Save Commercial Businesses Money

T5 fluorescent lighting fixtures are used more and more these days to replace less efficient lighting. These high-powered fluorescent lights are bright, have better color quality and use less energy. These are all very good reasons for commercial and industrial businesses to upgrade their lighting to high bay fixtures.

Fluorescent lighting uses 25% to 35% of the amount of energy than older lighting fixtures. They are also last ten times longer so many businesses are making the switch to fluorescent lighting.  Companies can save money and reduce energy costs when they upgrade their lighting fixtures to more efficient lighting options and save money for their business.

It is estimated that most of the millions of buildings in the United States were built before 1979. These buildings need upgraded energy efficient equipment to reduce operating costs, save money and energy. There are numerous government rebate programs available to help businesses upgrade their equipment to such measures and T5 fluorescent lighting to make them more energy-efficient.

New Mexico’s El Paso Electric Company features the Commercial Efficiency Program. This program pays service providers for such technologies as lighting and air conditioning, to install energy efficient equipment in commercial and industrial buildings within the electric company’s service area. Attractive incentives are given for energy savings as well as measures that can reduce peak summer demand by at least 10 kW.

The program sponsors must meet the eligibility criteria and go through the paperwork process to have the possibility to get a maximum savings of $30,000 per sponsor. Once the project is approved and the equipment is installed, the Project Sponsor (service provider) receives incentives based on project savings according to the signed agreement. More detailed information about this exciting program, including incentive amounts, is available at: www.epesaver.com.
