Utility companies across the country are offering incentives to companies who switch the energy–saving measures in their facilities. These incentives vary in amount and scope, but all have the common objective of reducing energy consumption and helping businesses save money. These rebate offers usually entail a detailed application process for commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects.
The Empire District Electric Company is one such utility company that offers a Prescriptive Rebate Program for energy efficiency in commercial and industrial facilities. This program is designed for non-residential customers who buy particular types of efficiency technologies for their companies, including such efficient measures as fluorescent high bay lighting. Both commercial upgrades and new construction projects are eligible for cash back for reducing energy consumption.
Fluorescent high bay lighting rebates of $50 per fixture are offered to replace HID fixtures in such high bay facilities as gymnasiums and warehouses. These fixtures must have certain characteristics for eligibility, which can be found on the company’s website at www.empiredistrict.com. Empire District must pre-approve project applications before the equipment is bought and installed in the facilities. All of the lighting equipment criteria for prescriptive rebates must meet certain energy efficiency qualifications and cannot exceed $5,000 per program year per customer.
