Many sectors, including commercial, industrial and schools, are receiving help with their energy bills through energy efficiency rebates. Utility companies around the country are offering these incentives to reward these businesses for utilizing green energy. Utility rebate offers include programmable thermostats, motors, lighting and lighting controls. High bay lighting is a popular incentive to encourage businesses to reduce lighting costs, which can make up at least 20% of a commercial energy bill.
Companies that switch from less efficient technology to energy efficient lighting see clear evidence of reduced energy consumption and costs. Rebates provide companies with the tangible means to promote energy conservation in their facilities. Nevada Energy’s SureBet Energy Efficiency Rebate Program is helping Nevada businesses to upgrade their equipment to measures that saves both energy and money.
Nevada’s Sure Bet Program is administered by the Nevada Power Company and offers many incentives for both retrofit and new construction projects. Commercial, industrial and institutional sectors can receive cash back for energy saved during peak and non-peak hours. For instance, businesses can receive commercial custom retrofits of $0.10/kWh on peak hours and $0.05/kWh for off peak times.
Businesses can also take advantage of prescriptive offers, which vary by technology and type and size of the measure. HID conversions to any size or type of T8 or T5 lighting can receive $0.30 per watt reduced up to $100 per fixture. The SureBet Program requires that the project savings must bring about permanent reduced electrical energy usage and last for at least five years.
The Sure Bet Projects for the Northern Service Territory of Nevada’s NV Energy Company will expire on November 15, 2010. Rebates are available to commercial, industrial and other sectors on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pre-notification is required for all custom projects, prescriptive projects with expected incentives of more than $7,500 and all delamping projects.
