When someone thinks of a great idea, they want to share it with all who will listen. It is hard to keep a great concept to one’s self, especially when it is of great benefit to others. The word is spreading about PECO Energy’s Smart Equipment Incentives Program that rewards commercial businesses for going green.
Commercial businesses get rebates or incentives to replace their existing equipment, such as lighting fixtures, with more energy-efficient technologies. T-5 fluorescent fixtures commonly replace the older high HID fixtures. T5 fluorescent lighting is said to render better lighting quality and consume less energy.
PECO is a Pennsylvania utility company that is promoting energy efficient equipment usage among its customers. Dozens of utility companies are going green by offering energy efficient incentives to companies that upgrade their equipment. The Smart Equipment Lighting Program covers new high bay fluorescent fixtures as well as other lighting fixtures.
Lighting can consume more than half of a company’s annual electricity budget, so commercial businesses can greatly benefit from energy-saving lighting measures. When companies use equipment that uses less energy, they save money and help to improve the environment. Energy efficient benefits both businesses and the people they serve by helping to promote a green environment.
Businesses who want to join PECO’s go green effort by upgrading their lighting fixtures must be a PECO customer. In addition, the improvement must be new and either improve energy efficiency or result in a reduction on electricity usage. A pre-approval application is strongly recommended and is required for some equipment under the SMART Equipment Program. Incentives are available on a first-come, served basis and are paid based on the type of equipment, size and energy efficiency.
