Vermont Encourages Businesses To Go Green Via Lighting Incentives

The go green initiative is permeating our culture, encouraging people to preserve our planet through energy conservation. Environmental protection and conservation efforts have snowballed in our nation over the past several years. Our nation’s aggressive renewable and sustainable energy push has undoubtedly played a role in fueling our emphasis on green energy.

For instance, classrooms are learning about green energy efforts, such as solar and wind power. Appliances are being manufactured with energy saving features and automatic switches, to conserve energy and money. Almost every arena of life one can think of has some kind of feature or incentive to go green.

The government’s proactive stance on green energy has really helped to reaffirm our commitment to energy efficiency. Commercial businesses can benefit greatly from the go green effort by utilizing government rebates for green energy. Commercial energy-saving equipment not only helps companies to reduce their energy consumption, but helps to improve the environment as well.

The Efficiency Vermont State Rebate Program offers a Commercial Lighting Incentives Program to businesses who try to reduce their power consumption using energy efficient technologies. Commercial businesses can receive $10-$75 for certain lighting equipment, including fluorescent lighting fixtures. The maximum incentive to install energy efficient lighting equipment is up to 100% of the cost of the upgrade. Incentives above $2,500 must be pre-approved by Efficiency Vermont in order to receive a rebate.

A customer that has 10,000 square feet of space to upgrade or more than 100 items that could qualify for rebates needs to contact Efficiency Vermont directly for pre-approval. Commercial businesses don’t need to get pre-approved if their space isn’t at least 10,000 square feet or they have less than 100 items that could qualify for rebates. More information can be found about this program at the company’s Web site.  Go to www.efficiencyvermont.com.
