Energy efficient facilities are on the rise in states all across the United States thanks to huge government rebate offers for businesses that upgrade to green equipment. Companies who make the switch to energy-saving measures enjoy reduced energy costs and healthier work environments. Virginia has recently launched a new incentive that offers an energy rebate for its commercial and industrial customers who install more energy efficient systems in their buildings.
The Dominion Virginia Power Commercial Energy Efficiency Program is operating a $28.1 million dollar rebate program for non-residential Dominion Virginia Power customers. The Virginia utility company offers such incentives as the Commercial Lighting Program for businesses who upgrade to more efficient lighting measures. These rebate offers help businesses to save money and promote green energy efforts in their facilities. Lighting upgrades range from $3-$61 for T5 fluorescent lighting that replaces less efficient existing fixtures.
Eligible businesses need to be classified and served under a commercial rate and have a 10MW demand or less in their buildings. In addition, a customer must be classified between 500kW of energy demand and have not opted out of DSM programs. Work must be done by a vendor who participates in the network or self- installed.
The Dominion Virginia Power energy rebate offer is only for its commercial and industrial customers who meet the eligibility requirements. The program also stipulates that installation or service must have occurred within the past 90 days of application submission. All rebates may be examined, but all applications over $10,000 or those self-installed will be inspected.
Many types of buildings are eligible for lighting reward rebates through Dominion Virginia Power’s Lighting Rebate Program, such as food sales, health care, education and lodging. The program expires for this energy rebate in March of 2013, so there is plenty of time for businesses to take advantage of the energy efficiency incentives.
