Wisconsin Utility Company Promotes Energy Rebate Program For Area Businesses

Several utility companies in Wisconsin are offering certain rebates to their non-residential customers that use commercial equipment that reduces energy usage. Energy incentive programs are a growing trend for businesses that want to make the most of sustainable energy resources in their facilities. Businesses that take advantage of the funds provided through energy rebate programs can use equipment with built-in energy reduction mechanisms to cut costs and promote environmental health.

Barron Electric Cooperative or BEC, is one of Wisconsin’s utility companies offering energy-saving rewards to companies that use environmentally-friendly, commercial equipment. BEC gives incentives to businesses that reduce their energy costs by using green energy equipment. The program features such eligible technologies as commercial lighting, agricultural tools and motors.

A company that wants to receive an energy rebate through Wisconsin’s Barron Electric needs to get a free energy audit first.  Companies can get one forth of their money back for the cost of the audit, which works out to be about $200, but can be as much as $250 if the business implements the audit recommendations. The results of the audit will determine the rebates that are offered to the local business. Agricultural and commercial customers can receive energy incentives that are uniquely designed for each particular company based on audit findings.

The Lighting Incentive is one of many rebates offered for various energy efficient technologies through BEC’s utility program.  Customers can receive $7.50 for each fluorescent high bay lamp or lighting fixture with a maximum of 20% of the purchase amount of the equipment, amounting to no more than $10,000 annually for each account. Customers must buy the equipment in 2010 to be eligible for the program and must submit a receipt to prove it before the program’s expiration date of December 15, 2010.

BEC customers that are interested in this program need to contact the customer service department before starting any energy reduction projects.  Prospective businesses need to verify availability of funds, eligibility requirements and all of the necessary forms to complete the application project. More information about the Barron Electric Cooperative energy Rebate Program is available on the company’s website at:  www.barronelectric.com.
